Artificial intelligence (AI) Camera Eliminates the Camera Operator
Ever wish you could track your movement around a meeting space without utilizing a camera operator? Let’s face it, the world is not static and neither are presenters. Teachers, co-workers and trainers are always on the move – but your camera isn’t. This is especially true when teaching from a home office or remote learning center. It is cost-prohibitive to hire a camera operator, however teaching from behind a desk is not effective for the remote learners.

Over the past year, the industry has seen a shift from mechanical PTZ cameras to those without any moving parts that can perform the same function. This has been largely due in part to the development of intelligent cameras. The latest AI-based camera design has reshaped the classroom and eliminated the need for complex tracking systems or dedicated camera operators. Thanks to AI, cameras can now automatically frame an area and keep the person (or persons) in front of the camera perfectly centered. This is very helpful when teaching in a hybrid/blended teaching environment

The NavAI from VDO360 is the world’s smallest auto-framing camera that tracks your movements so quickly you’d swear there was a camera operator at the other end. The magic behind the tracking is all thanks to an AI-based technology that frames a meeting space in real time and keeps you in the center of the action.

VDO360 provides Natural Vision™ auto-framing capability in our NavAI camera to reduce video conferencing fatigue and keep the remote meeting participants engaged. This auto-framing functionality makes it appear as if a physical camera operator were present and adjusting the camera position based on teacher movement. Designed for teaching and training environments, this camera provides up to 4K HD quality, USB for simple connectivity and has 120º FOV (Field of View) for exceptional subject coverage in the classroom.

Unlike more expensive tracking cameras, the NavAI is USB2.0 – so just plug into any device and use your favorite application (Zoom, Teams, WebEx, etc.) to track your movement.

The NavAI is equipped with next-generation auto tracking and auto framing capabilities at an industry leading price-point. Features to look for in an auto-framing camera include:

  • AI quickly adjusts to the number of people in the room dynamically
  • Dual microphones offer excellent audio pickup from 5 meters away
  • Use Auto-framing or manual option with desktop control that overrides the AI
  • Enterprise-grade construction with a housing milled from solid billet aluminum
  • Wide angle 120° field of view captures all of the action
